![]() ![]() Instead, Tony wore it himself to fight against Obadiah Stane, and he won, so he kept using the Silver Centurion armour for many months after. It was used extensively against other armor users during the first Armor Wars until being destroyed and dismantled by a character known as Firepower, Tony used another version of this armor when he was facing the Mandarin’s attempt to unleash Extremis on a large scale as his other suits had been shut down.Īfter Tony underwent a moral inversion, Pepper activated an artificial back-up Tony had made of his mind in the event of him ever being compromised in this kind of manner. Tony actually intended this armour to be used by James Rhodes aka Rhodey who ended up with the War Machine armour. Model 8 is better known as the Silver Centurion Armour. Model 8 first appeared in November, 1985, Iron Man #200. Something called the ‘neutral net’ could counteract or adopt similar effects to superhuman powers, which, if you have read Civil War or even just watched Captain America: Civil War, you will have seen in action when Tony’s suit can’t keep up with Captain America’s ferocious fighting style and so the suit copies and adapts to it. The armor had a degree of adaptability to support and protect the wearer. The armour’s under-most layer could also heal the wearer within reason, and repair damage to the suit. That modular layer was directly wired into Tony’s brain, allowing him control over the new armor systems with thought and even interface with other technologies.ĭue to Extremis, Stark’s mind could now directly access satellite networks, security systems, and other digital technologies. In order to combat this obstacle, the Extremis dose was modified so that the crucial modular layer of the Iron Man suit was compressed and stored in the hollows of Tony’s bones. However he was facing problems with programming and accessing the new suit’s control systems. Additionally, Stark had been working on an experimental Iron Man Armor that was tougher and lighter than his then-used design. With no other choice or options, Tony convinced the co-developer of the Extremis-virus, Maya Hansen, to inject him a dose of Extremis to heal his injuries. In an attempt to stop a villain known as Mallen, who was powered by the Extremis-virus which is essentially a super-soldier serum, Tony was fatally injured. The Extremis Armour is one of Tony’s most famous suits, it was worn by Tony in the Civil War arc, which is one of the most famous Marvel events. Model 29 is better known as the Extremis Armour. Model 29 first appeared in October, 2004, Iron Man vol #4. There’s not a huge lot to this suit, it’s a tank, and it went head to head with Hulk for a while. It looks sort of similar to Juggernaut too. ![]() ![]() I also really love the appearance of it taking a classic approach with the armour plating but merged with the evolving times of design. The Hulkbuster armour is immensely strong, not quite as strong as Hulk though, who is up there with the most powerful! The suits design was meant to absorb damage thrown by Hulk’s brute force and while it was less mobile or versatile, it was nothing short of a tank, it even had some adamantium armaments included too. Under the bigger, stronger, outer-shell was a smaller suit and instead of a single cohesive unit, each piece of the armor was a stand-alone system that could be interchanged when desired. There isn’t a huge amount of ultra-imaginative tech to do with this suit, it was designed to be rugged but manned like any other suit. It was designed, as you may have worked out, to be a fail-safe measure for use against the Hulk who was rampaging through America. Model 13 is better known as the Hulkbuster Armour. Model 13 first appeared in May, 1994, Iron Man #304. Now to clarify, these are not the ten most powerful or best, merely my ten favourites and a lot of these armours are known as other names so you’re going to read “is better known as” a few times.
